I am looking for info. on a Ballard family that was in James Bayou Tnshp. in 1880. The family had moved from Coffee Co. TN. after 1860. The head of the family was George 57. Living with him was his wife Minerva 57, Daughter Elizabeth "Bettie" Cole 23, her son Richard Cole 4, and Son John 21. Living next to them was another Son Columbus 26, and wife Martha 21. I believe that John moved back to Coffee Co., but I can find nothing on the rest of the family.
I am looking for information on my gggrandfather James H. Baker. He was a farmer in Mississippi county, Tywappitty Township and is in the 1870 census as J.H. Baker and in the 1880 census as James H. Baker. He was married to Senya,or Senia Baker. The family story is he died due to a gunshot wound either from a gun falling that was kept above the door or from suicide. He died between the 1880 census and when Senia remarried in July 21, 1883. I can find no record of the cemetary where he is buried or death record. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This is an amended query to my previously posted one. I am still researching George Jefferson "Jeff"Baker, born July 16, 1895 in East Prarie, MO to Thomas Jefferson Baker and Jane Fugit?(Not sure if the spelling of her surname is correct)There birthplaces unk. Jeff married Verba Cooper in New Madrid,MO. They lived at Henderson Mound. Verba Cooper Baker died in 1914. Jeff entered WWI in 1918-1919. Jeff remarried Sunshine Butts 19?. According to his obituary he had lived in Matthews, MO and Catron, MO at the time of his death. He died Jan 30, 1937 when the barge he was on sank with several men in the Flood of 37. If anyone can give me any info on these families I would appreciate it.

Bailey 1847-1921, Susan Bailey 1852- 1947 and my great uncle Arthur Lee Bailey 1884-1925. My father was John Clinton Bailey 1913-1991. I am trying to find information on Cynthia/Synthia Ann Daniels Swanner Bartlett/Barlett. She had a child, Marshall Green Swanner in 1834, married James Swanner in 1838 in Marshall County, TN. After the death of James in 1842 in Scott Co.,(now Mississippi Co.), she married William Bartlett in 1844. William Bartlett died in 1848 and, according to his will, Cynthia/Synthia Ann was still a Bartlett in 1852. She was only 42 yrs. old at that time so I believe that she may have married again. Searching for information on BECKWITH children, Thomas H. & Idah Elmo. Thomas was born abt 1895 in Wolf Island. He enlisted in the Army July 6, 1918 at Charleston, MO. He was discharged on June 14, 1919. He died April 1931 & is buried At Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, MO. He had blue eyes, brown hair, & a rudy complection. He had a daughter named Louise. Ida was born abt 1899. She married Berthel Moore. They had 2 children: Hardy b.3-19-1916 Fulton, Tenn., Sara b.Clinton, KY. Berthel died when Sara was abt 2yrs. Ida went back to school & graduated from Memphis State College. She became a secretary for the Wabash RR. She died 1937, St. Louis, MO. Thomas & Ida were raised by nannys. Sara says her grandparents were Thomas & Nannie Beckwith. They has a farm outside Charleston, MO with many slaves. The family moved to St. Louis & put a lawyer Land McPe_tus in charge of handling the farm. They thought that he was paying the taxes but found out in 1934 that he wasn't. The farm was sold to E. Finley Thompson of 304 N. Main St. Charleston, MO. The farm was on the Mississippi River. I have not been able to find document proof to the history that Sara has shared with me. I am trying to locate any information for relatives of Daniel Davis Blocker. He was born in Ky abt 1812 but he lists his places of residencies as being Missouri,Arkansas,and Texas. My greatgrandfather Jasper Price Bone died on 10/15/45 and is buried in Dogwood Cemetery in East Prairie. His sister Elzy Bone Davis died in 4/50 and is also buried in Dogwood Cemetery. It is my understanding that there are several "Bone" ancestors buried in East Prairie. Shelby Furniture and Undertaking in East Prairie took care of the burials.
